She argues that simple changes to farm policies and human consumption patterns could make huge differences to the future health of all creatures, great and small.

"Silent Spring" for a new generation?

I've never been to Iowa, but I did grow up on a small farm. This gives me a bit of context in which to identify with the concerns identified by Leah Dunham and her veterinarian dad in "America's Two-Headed Pig." Their story and observations make me fear for our children's future.
While a professional editor is always helpful, I disagree that the writing is poor. I found the sequence easy to follow and appreciated that there are few (if any) grammatical errors. The evidence is recounted in a cogent and non-hysterical manner. For example, I did not know that 90% of genetic seed modifications are done so plants can tolerate the chemicals being applied for weed and pest control in ever-greater volume.
Leah spoke at my bookstore recently. She told us that she began to think seriously about documenting her concerns (and those of her dad) when, upon visiting her family in Iowa, she observed for the first time that planes were spraying chemicals on the neighbors' fields. She asked the rhetorical question "When did this become okay?" and decided to take action.
We owe Leah and her dad a debt of gratitude for taking the time and spending their own money to document their first-hand observations and concerns. This book may be our generation's version of "Silent Spring" (albeit without the publishing infrastructure that supported Rachel Carson).

Great info, poor writing

The writing in this book is so poor it really distracts from the content. This is not just a word or sentence here or there but paragraph after paragraph where you have to try and guess what the writer means. I hope she gets someone to mark up a copy so she can go through and explain parts before any reprint is done! That said there is a lot of content that should shock and dismay the US citizen that cares about animal welfare, the environment and the future of the human race. Her father's contribution to understanding this impending disaster is very significant and I hope through this book he will get interviews and make connections to spread the word about what he is observing.
