Avoiding both past falsities and recent distortions, the book seeks the truth of the European experience, examines the present situation of the white Africans and looks at what might lie ahead for them.

About the Author
Gerald L’Ange is a South African journalist and writer – and a white African himself. A journalist all his working life, L’Ange has functioned in that capacity in South Africa, Kenya (during the Mau Mau insurgency), Britain, Canada and the United States. As an accredited journalist at the United Nations in New York for seven years from 1968, he was able to observe at first hand the growing opposition in the UN to white supremacy in Africa. He was a foreign correspondent in Washington during the surge in anti-apartheid activity in America in the eighties which led to tough measures against apartheid by both the White House and Congress. In some 15 years with the special Africa service of his country’s major newspaper group, L’Ange covered events in a number of African countries. As the service’s editor, he directed coverage of the insurgent warfare in Rhodesia and Namibia, of the South African military interventions in Angola, of the South African campaign of destabilization in the sub-continent and of the African National Congress’s activities from its bases in neighboring countries. He lives in Hout Bay with his wife, Barbara.

Don't get me wrong. I think Mark Twain is superb. However, the scanning of this copy seems to have skipped significant parts of some of the writings. I suggest, as an alternative, look for Complete Mark Twain Collection (300+ works) (Illustrated by Bob Henry) $2.99 Kindle Edition

Defective -- missing text

This book is defective. It's missing several pieces of text in Huckleberry Finn. A big chunk just where Hamlet's soliloquy is about to start, and another just before the town where they're arguing over plugs of chaw. Who knows what else is missing in other parts? Haven't read it all yet.

Missing some of his work.

Haven't had a chance to read it, bought it on the strength of the title, but I have looked through the table of contents and something seems to be lacking. Where is his "Letters From the Earth"? I realize that was a posthumous publication, but it is still something he wrote, and its lack in this collection makes the title incorrect.

Hilarious but only good for one read

This book is hard to find. I got it as a gag gift for my 13 year old son who is preoccupied with his changing body. Each page is a simple hand drawn creature whose most outstanding feature is its genitalia, which are not particularly offending in nature. We all had a good laugh as my son read it outloud to the rest of the family, then it went in the cupboard and its been there ever since. When you buy this book, you have to consider how much you will pay for a good laugh. If you are looking for pornography, this ain't it. This is more what I would call "boyscout humor". Its would be a great gag gift to pass on.

I bought this book as a gag gift for a bachelorette gift and it was a total hoot. We couldn't stop giggling at the amusing little drawings and clever word puns. All the animals actually drawn really cute and not at all offensive. Makes a perfect little book for such an occasion.

I was pleasantly surprised!
When I first flipped through this book - it looked pretty simplistic - especially for an Art Journaling book.
After all - most art journaling books are filled with colourful, creative examples - not this book.
So I was surprised when I started to read through the prompts - the further I got - the more inspired I got. I wanted to attack my supplies and get journaling right away.
My enthusiasm for art journaling was renewed once again!
The ideas and techniques described are fun and easy.
I am eager to try them out and see my completed pages.
It isn't a very extensive book (only 33 pages in total)... just enough to get started and inspired.

A good book with a few good ideas but it's really for a beginner.

Well, this sounded like a good idea when I read the descriptions on here. Yes, there are 100+ ideas in the book but most of them are the most basic and simple ideas for art journalling. I'm by no means an experienced art journaler but this book is a little too basic for me. I thought there would be more instruction on how to use some products but maybe I was too hopeful. For a new art journaler who doesn't have much creativity or someone who needs help with ideas, this would be a decent purchase.

Yay! Finally the book I've been looking for!

This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for to help me grasp how to begin art journaling personally and how I might incorporate the art with my professional work. I like the step-by-step approach, and how it goes from simple to more complex. I also love the prompts and ideas the author gives. It is a tiny book, but it is packed with just right information. I also appreciate that the author chose not to give examples in the book so the artwork created by readers can be unique and inspired rather than copied. I highly recommend this book for all who are interested in art journaling but are having a hard time figuring out where/how to start.

Shadoe Publishing met that need and allowed K’Anne to use skills in running a company that she had acquired over twenty-five years with running other companies. Punctuation is a Writer's Best Friend...when it's used...

This is not the first time I've taken a chance on a new author based on the good reviews only to realize the reviews are very misleading. This book is a mess. I bought it as a kindle gift for my girlfriend and since she claimed it, it cannot be returned, unfortunately. So I'd recommend thinking twice before buying into the reviews for it. I'm seriously wondering if they read the same book? I couldn't get past the first few chapters. The missing punctuation was mind-boggling. It makes for a difficult read of run-on sentences, and there is way too much description...down to every last detail of what Amy is doing or even eating. Neither one of us wanted to continue reading. The book needs some major editing and proofreading. I'm sure it could be much better and more readable, but as is...it's just not worth the headache.

Would not recommend this book. The story is all right but there is way too much detail. It's like there was a minimum word requirement to be fulfilled. Also, the writer seemed to forget the names of the two main characters as at least twice the wrong name was used in direct reference to the person. I applaud the writer putting a piece of themselves out there, but I would suggest finding an editor.

Amy is a mysterious, but friendly stranger to the folks in tiny Northpoint, Wisconsin when she arrives on a Greyhound bus! She reveals nothing about her previous life when asked!
Abby is the single small town sheriff of Northpoint & she is drawn to Amy, who buys her rundown grandparents store!
This is a sweet little small town romance with the mystery of Amy's previous life looming over it, threatening their love, that is just beginning to surface!! I have it 5 stars!

About the Author
Roman Diaz has been practicing origami for nearly 20 years. During this time he has become a well-known origami designer worldwide and has been invited as special guest and lecturer to origami conventions in Spain, France, Argentina, Italy, Germany, Colombia, Chile, Canada, Brazil, England, USA, and Japan. Roman is a veterinary surgeon working with dogs and cats and pursues his passion for paper folding as a part-time origami artist in his hometown of Montevideo, Uruguay.

Fun kit. This is not just a book

Fun kit. This is not just a book. It is a boxed set that has an origami book, a chess board, and papers to fold the chess pieces.The book is lovely - nicely illustrated with detailed folding diagrams. The chess board is very nice - It unfolds into a board that is about 20 inches square.
There are many models of cats and dogs. They are folded separately and then glued onto a base to make the chessmen. The cat and dog models are very nice on their own, but they are a bit complex.
Box measures about 11 inches square. It open like a book. Inside is the stuff - the book, chessboard and papers. These items are encased in a plastic "clamshell" type package that is glued to the inside bottom of the box. It was very difficult to remove this from the box.
The box is nice too - very sturdy with thick sides with a magnetic closure. And it is perfect for holding the chess board and the chess pieces.

Cute cats and dogs!

I think this set will appeal to many people, including fans of chess, cats, dogs, and fans of origami. This set includes 100+ sheets of origami paper, printed with various designs (including photos of fur), along with a surprisingly substantial book with visual instructions that make it really easy. I loved how the dogs and cats are sitting in cute little positions, and each sits on its own chesspiece marked stand. The nice 2-sided chessboard is included. I’ve just gotten started with making my favorite cats and dogs first, and I’m really enjoying this set!

Fun for a rainy vacation week

I got this for a present for my daughter and husband. He loves chess and she loves animals. Making the pieces was a fun activity for both of them. Some of the animals were more challenging than others. The board was very think. This is a great long term project and display piece. I received this product at a reduced price for an honest review.
